🎶 Quincy Jones has just recently passed away at the age of 91, with a 7-decade career behind him as a musician, composter, producer, arranger and entrepreneur who worked in many genres of music, film and television.

Jones was a bandleader, trumpeter and arranger who worked with many artists including Miles Davis, Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson and Count Basie (to name a few).

He was known for his musical hybrids - blending pop, soul, hip-hop, jazz, classical, African and Brazilian music 🎶

🧠 A reason why music is so closely linked to memory is through its activation of the brain’s limbic system, especially the hippocampus. It plays a critical role in storing and retrieving memories. Music activates this region of the brain as it is sensory information and is so strongly associated with emotions that come with experiences and memories. Even when the brain has almost completely deteriorated due to dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, and the hippocampus has been affected, music still has the ability to infiltrate. Music is the last thing we forget!
